How I Define BOLD

Today’s a super sweet day! Not only am I happy to announce that 21 SECRETS Color, Color, Color! is finally out in the world making ripples of inspiration and joy — but I am also the spotlighted artist for the Life Book blog hop HAPPENING HERE too.

These two exciting events coinciding on the same day kind of magically happened, and as I sit here writing this blog post, I realized what a beautiful coincidence it is that it did.

First let me say that 21 SECRETS Color, Color, Color! is not only the tenth edition of 21 SECRETS to be born into the world — but it’s my first time back as creative director after handing the position over to Hali Karla for the last two years.  I was so excited to gather together a group of artists around this theme of Color, Color, Color that I got a little nutty and invited three more than the usual 21.

So the 21 SECRETS Color, Color, Color! eBook is a bit huskier than usual — but I don’t think anyone will really mind!

 Though, what really warms my heart is that six years ago, when I started 21 SECRETS,  I invited Tam Laporte to be part of my second 21 SECRETS.  The following year she launched Life Book for the first time and I was part of that inaugural workshop as well. Since then it’s been such a blessing and so awesome that both of us have been able to grow these online gatherings into a livelihood of it’s own. But what’s even more beautiful are the areas where 21 SECRETS and Life Book overlap and create abundance, healing, and joy for so many.

I love that today I can announce that I am teaching in two very powerful workshops online that have both been catalysts of creativity and healing for so many over the years:  21 SECRETS and Life Book.  But what fills me with the most joy is the ability to model this collaborative way of doing business.  I find it very thrilling and hopeful even that Tam and I have both created very successful programs for ourselves and have stayed supportive and celebratory of each other’s success along the way.

It is my true wish that more artists will embrace collaboration over competition, generosity over scarcity, and trust over fear. To me this is not just the kind of business model I want to foster in the world — but rather it’s the kind of world I want to live in and pass down to my sweet son Phoenix one day.

To me this vision truly feels BOLD — and this BOLDNESS includes that feeling of being a bit risky — but oh so intuitive.  This exact kind of energy that fills my vision is what I brought to my workshop BOLD in 21 SECRETS Color, Color, Color.

In BOLD we use our art journals to practice taking creative risks by using color in its rawest form,
while discovering new ways of expressing ourselves bravely, colorfully, and most of all BOLD! This workshop will push you out of your comfort zone a bit — but I promise you I’ll reel you back in with a line of curiosity and humor!
