Unexpectedly this week I had to go out of town and being a person that finds comfort in my daily rituals, I made sure to bring my art journal and some paints along to help ground me every day that I would be away.

One of the “side effects” of tending to a daily painting practice is that when I don’t pick up the brush and paint that day I can honestly feel the impact.

For me painting brings forth insight, a greater sense of peace, and most of all joy. Even when the painting itself turns out less than desirable, I find there’s something about the simple act of moving color, line, and pattern around that still nourishes my Soul.
